Special-Interest
Groups
The Federal Association of Security Officials
(FASO) offers its members an opportunity to become involved
in the work of the Special-Interest Groups (S-IGs) established
in support of F.A.S.O.’s mission, which is to enhance the
performance and the career development of security officials, at
all levels, in the employ of the Government of Canada and its agencies.
The
Special-Interest Groups enable participants: (1) to promote the
consistent application of the Government Security Policy, (2)
to contribute to the appropriateness and the effectiveness of
security in federal institutions, (3) to expand their knowledge
of fields
of security to which they might wish to direct their career,
(4) to share information on security, (5) to encourage professionalism,
and (6) to formulate proposals on evolving security issues for
consideration by the competent governmental authorities. The
Special-Interest
Groups meet as often as practicable to pursue their mandates,
bearing in mind the needs and the wishes of their participants.
There are ten Special-Interest Groups:
